The challenge

Baxnaano is Somalia's flagship safety net, delivering cash transfers to vulnerable households across the country. A programme of that importance is watched closely: by the families it serves, by government, by funders and by the public. It needs its results told accurately, in ways citizens recognise and partners can verify.

That kind of communication cannot be produced from a desk in the capital. It means finding beneficiary households, sitting with them respectfully, checking their stories against programme records, and producing material that survives both an editor's eye and an auditor's.
